Perez Hilton was treated for a drug overdose, report says
Published in Entertainment News
Gossip blogger Perez Hilton was reportedly treated for a drug overdose after melting down during a livestream that caused concerns of self-harm.
The 48-year-old celebrity chronicler born Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr. was treated by first responders in his Florida home on Aug. 4. They had been alerted to a possible suicide attempt.
TMZ reported Friday that it reviewed a police report claiming Hilton was treated for multiple injuries and an overdose by fire rescue personnel before he was rushed to a Miami hospital. It’s not clear what kind of drugs might have been involved.
Hilton’s loved ones said his children were present when he suffered what appeared to be a mental breakdown. The blogger suffered injuries that may have been inflicted with a knife, according to TMZ. The victim was bleeding when first responders arrived.
Hilton’s family confirmed in a statement last week that the he’d “experienced significant blood loss and sustained additional injuries that will require surgery in the coming days.”
They added his recovery will be a long one and warned the public to be cautious about believing unauthorized reports. Hilton remains in treatment. His representatives haven’t commented on TMZ’s allegations of a drug overdose.
