DETROIT — The return of Buccaneers receiver Mike Evans was short-lived.

Back in the lineup for the first time in about a month, Evans sustained a concussion and broken collarbone while attempting to catch a deep pass from Baker Mayfield late in the first half of Monday night’s loss to the Detroit Lions.

He is expected to be out most of the season.

Evans, who missed the three previous games with a hamstring injury, had four targets but no catches when he was injured with just over five minutes left in the second quarter.

He remained motionless on the field for several seconds before trainers arrived and helped him off the field. He was carted to the locker room and ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Despite Evans and Emeka Egbuka returning to the lineup, the Bucs struggled through their worst offensive half of the season.

Mayfield completed only seven of his first 14 passes for 25 yards with an interception before Bucs cornerback Jamel Dean intercepted the Lions’ Jared Goff with 21 seconds left in the half.

Chase McLaughlin provided the Bucs’ only points with a 53-yard field goal as the half ended with Tampa Bay trailing 14-3.
