Gadgets: MagicMount Flask
Published in Science & Technology News
Scosche's MagicMount Flask is a multi-function accessory designed to work with the new iPhones or any MagSafe-compatible smartphone.
The flask is available in 22- and 32-ounce sizes and features double-wall vacuum insulation. The insulation will keep your beverages cold for up to 24 hours or hot for 12 hours.
However, the MagicMount Flask MagSafe’s real appeal is the adjustable magnetic lid, which is built with powerful Neodymium magnets. You can attach compatible iPhone 12 models and later. A Scosche MagicRing adapter is included to make any phone compatible with MagSafe. The combination is ideal for use most anywhere, including in a car, office, gym or kitchen.
The odor-resistant flask features an interior made of food-grade stainless steel and a powder-coated external finish. There is a quick-flip straw on top of the leak-proof top. For reference, regarding your vehicle's cupholders, the Scosche 32-ounce flask ($44.99) is 3.75 inches wide, and the 22-ounce model ($39.99) is 3.1 inches wide.
When the phone is attached, it is adjustable to any angle, including landscape and portrait angles. The mount allows the MagicMount Flask to serve as an ideal on-the-go selfie stand for capturing still photos or videos. Or use it for hands-free calls.
The cap, which is also sold separately ($29.99), is compatible with other wide mouth water bottles. A complete list is on the Scosche site. The MagicMount Flask magnets are powerful enough to attach and hold a full 40-ounce flask to a magnetic surface.
Your furry friends can also make use of a feature: Remove the protective food-quality silicone sleeve, which protects the base, and use it as a pet water bowl.
scosche.com offers both sizes in black, white, powder blue, and flamingo pink.
LifeStraw water bottles with built-in filter systems offer a cost-effective way to ensure that what you're drinking is safe.
The LifeStraw Go Series 18-ounce tumbler ($49.95) filters water as you sip, providing clean and safe hydration on the go. Its integrated two-stage filter not only removes impurities but also improves the taste of your water and other stored beverages.
Inside the tumbler is a two-stage filter that removes bacteria (including E. coli and Salmonella), parasites and microplastics, while also reducing the chlorine level. The filter system includes a membrane microfilter that also removes sand and dirt. The activated carbon filter reduces chlorine and also helps eliminate odors.
LifeStraw lists the membrane microfilter to last for up to 1,000 gallons, or approximately five years of daily use. The carbon filter will last for up to 26 gallons, about two months. Replacement carbon filters are available in packs of 2 ($9.95) and 6 ($24.95). Replacement membrane microfilters are $24.95.
The tumbler has a slim profile to fit in vehicle cup holders — the 18-ounce model has a 3.4-inch diameter.
LifeStraw offers a range of filtered products to ensure the safety of what you're drinking. They also state that for every product sold, a child in need receives access to safe water for an entire year.
The LifeStraw Go Series features stainless steel tumblers, available in 18 ounces ($49.95), 24 ounces ($59.95) and 1 liter ($64.95). All the sizes are available in a variety of color choices. The stainless steel tumblers have a top-sided carry clip.
